About This Blog

Welcome to S.Segev Software Blog. (formerly Thrifty Trend Software)

Here you will find original and unique freeware, a few finance opinions, tech and economy headlines gathered at the author's discretion.

Who am I?

Hi, I'm S. Segev, a software engineer willing to give away some free software and opinion. Please do reciprocate if you find value here.

Free software means... well - you pay nothing, and get to email me how great it is

Give it a try:

Thrifty Trend?!

The site's address is thriftytrend.blogspot.com, that's because it started out as a personal blog espousing mainly opinions regarding personal finance. The author at this point prefers to dedicate his time to other goals.

Thanks for dropping by,
cheers!

  1. Tried your Free Stocks Ticker and was really seeing value in it and then it stopped working... specifically for the Toronto (.TO) Stocks. Any idea what happened?

    1. The software relies on either Yahoo or Google as sources. Occasionally these sites change how and which stocks they support. I believe that if you turn off "real time quotes", you will be using Yahoo!Finance services, and everything will resume working. Google probably changed something.

  2. Hi Sivan - I believe that my "other" suggestion in the current poll may be similar to what you mean by "rotating among top performers".

  3. I like very much your Stocks Ticker application, very elegant, simply and clean. I'm using it for testing purposes, studing carreer and programing rss exercises. I want to ask you a problem. I'm editing a rss.xml file linked like a rss feed in yor application, but new rss block entries in the xml file doesn't refresh. I change rss refresh time in 'Setup/RSS Feeds/Seconds to refresh feeds' to the minimum seconds, but nothing happens when I modify rss.xml file. Even when I click 'Refresh' button (the rss logo button) nothing happens. The only way is to enter again in 'Setup' and click OK to force your app reads again xml file. Is there a way to get a faster refresh of the ticker information when xml file change? Thanks!!!!!!!!
