  3. Hello Sivan,

I am trying to use your Stock Ticker app and was wondering if you could tell me where does it take the symbols from? It shows XAO as the airline index, however Google Finance for example shows XAO as the Australian All Ords.

    Many thanks!

  4. If you choose "real time" then quotes are downloaded from google, otherwise then from yahoo finance. By default, all content is download from US sites, if you are used to browse local or international google and yahoo sites then your results could vary. It is also possible that at your internaltional location, http requests would be redirected to local servers. Looking locally at google finance from the US, shows XAO as airline index at INDEXNYSEGIS, at yahoo finance it doesnt exist, and when I tried the symbol it didnt deliver any results on "Free Stocks Ticker".

    1. Thanks for the prompt reply!

The actual index on google finance is ASX:XAO. I tried the following: XAO, ASX:XAO, and INDEXASX:XAO. None of the options resulted with the right index. On Yahoo finance the symbol is ^AORD, but this didn't work either.

      Google link:
      http://www.google.com/finance?q=INDEXASX:XAO

      Yahoo link:
      http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=%5EAORD

    2. Actually, turn off "real time quotes" via options, and the yahoo quote does work for ^AORD.

As explained above, real time quotes are from google, non-real time are form yahoo, and anything that's missing means that it is just not delivered via either's quote services as is.
